Once upon a time Belize was hidden, Belize was unknown, Belize was a mystery. When Mother Nature was making the world she didn’t outsource Belize – she made it herself. Belize has captured the imagination of all sorts of tourists – adventure seekers to nature conservationists…honeymooners to ‘twilight year’ tourists…teenagers to family vacationers. There are ample hideaways for all. As soon as you arrive in Belize you’ll find out that everything is cheap and close by. Once you land in Belize, moving around is cheap and most of the attractions are at close quarters – making it easier to plan a weekend or a short trip.
There are a wide range of transportation options arriving in Belize from North America including buses, planes and ships; all of which run on a timetable and so come in at regular intervals. Now, for those of you that are nautical in nature sailing on the Caribbean Sea, just like Jack Sparrow, will allow you to experience the wondrous joy of the outlying islands of Belize. If you are a road warrior, then you can plan on taking a luxury bus or even drive to Belize from anywhere in North and Central America. There are three airlines that handle flights (American Airlines, Continental Airlines, US Airways) from Houston, Miami, Dallas and Charlotte.
Fail to plan, plan to fail. Going to a wonderful country like Belize without a plan of attack is like jumping out of an airplane without a parachute. You reach your destination quicker but you don’t enjoy the view. Wouldn’t it be better to float down to earth, enjoy the sun, enjoy the sea, and drink the view of this beautiful country? Here are the top three things you should do for an extraordinary trip. A trio of guidelines might help the visitors planning a trip to Belize -If your trip is incomplete without a pint of beer and you crave for a corner seat in a quaint Mexican restaurant – Then a stay in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, San Ignacio or Placencia village will add flavour to your trip. The second tip is for those who like to be pampered in an exclusive and luxury spa. Head over to a jungle spa in Cayo. The third tip is for those who like to get away from the maddening crowds. When i want to get away from the crowd i go to Long Caye or Lighthouse Reef Atoll.
Getting around Belize City is very easy due to the abundance of taxi companies, car rental companies, buses and water ferries. You might want to consider taking a plane or a bus if the trip is longer. For people who can think outside the box there is the option to hire a bicycle at a minor cost. If your time is at a premium, then local airlines can be an option for a quick trip, although many visitors prefer buses as they provide you with a window side view of the cultural and geographical landscape of Belize. Other visitors to Belize prefer to explore via water taxis and ferry because this allow them to see the country from the perspective of the river system and water ways.
The tourist season is between December and June. The rainy time of year is between June and November. And the cooler period is between December and May. Irrespective of when you arrive in Belize the desire to please visitors is apparent and gives you a warm feeling of being cherished. It is well known around the world that Belizeans particularly warm and inviting to visitors. Many visitors to Belize buy real estate because they just fall in love with the place. You can go to a place like Long Caye where the fishing is exquisite the beaches are “to die for” and you will find that a lot of the real estate there is being purchased by foreigners. This is why when foreigners return home they replay in their mind those long, lazy warm days and wish that they could have stayed longer.
